NOAA has released its first-ever Climate Resilience Regional Challenge, making $575 million available for projects that build the resilience of coastal communities to extreme weather (e.g., hurricanes and storm surge) and other impacts of climate change, including sea level rise and drought.
The EPA has announced that the 2023 San Francisco Bay Water Quality Improvement Fund (SFBWQIF) RFA (also known as ‘request for applications’) is now OPEN.
This RFA is the EPA's “base program”, distinct from the augmentation of funding that came under BIL (the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) for which a separate RFA is also currently open.
Today, the Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority approved two grants in its Community Grants program.
The grants are:
1. The San Leandro (Lisjan) Creek Community Project, which funds the David R. Brower, Ronald V. Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy Studies and Action to carry out a community-led restoration project along the San Leandro (Lisjan) Creek in Oakland, engaging with community members and students from Madison Park Academy.

ABAG, the Association of Bay Area Governments, has appointed East Palo Alto Mayor Lisa Gauthier to the Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority to represent the South Bay.
The U.S. spends $60 million annually to dredge the waterways of the San Francisco Bay and parts of Northern California to support commercial navigation and connect local ports to global markets.
